Picture this - a 45 minute train journey and half an hour walk on - me, my two brothers and my late mum on one of the many trips she took us on to Wicksteed Park.

Straight in the swimming pool on the slides, outdoors in the sun - beautiful.  Then the double pirate ships...the dodgems...the big wheel, anyone?  Which slide on the park?  Big, medium or small?  No, lets play on the old train engine.  What about the Weetabix Bus?

Time to go....half an hour walk to the station.  Change trains at Nottingham, wait on an empty station for half an hour first.

Wouldn't change a thing.  Thanks Mum, thanks Wicksteed. 

Fast forward twenty years....me, two sons and a husband...45 minute drive.  On the wavy slide, rocking tug, go karts, and now the log flume  Brilliant mum!  We even stay the night in our tent.

Now I'm the mum to thanks.
